Takayama, Shirakawago, and Kanazawa 5 Nights

Enjoy a different Omomuki (taste) from other major spots in Japan on this unique tour. For those wishing for a taste of authentic Japanese culture, this tour takes you to several major historical sites. Among the most popular destinations include the Nomura Residence in Kanazawa and Gion Corner in Kyoto. However, you will have to see for yourself which activities best suit your interests.

Day 1

City: Arrival in Tokyo

Event: Arrive at Narita/Haneda Airport

Welcome to Japan!

Following your arrival to Japan and transfer to the hotel, enjoy the rest of the day free to relax from the long flight and prepare for tomorrow’s activities. In Day 2, we begin our exploration of the unique Omomuki of Japan.

Day 2

City: Tokyo – Nagoya

Event: Tour of Tokyo

We begin the day with a visit to the Tokyo Tower Observation Deck where you will be able to enjoy aerial views of Tokyo. We will then visit the Meiji-Jingu Shrine which was dedicated to Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken in 1920. Following that, we will visit one of Tokyo’s most popular temples, the Asakusa Kannon Temple. On temple grounds, Nakamise Shopping Arcade provides shopping for snacks and souvenirs.

We will then transfer to Nagoya via Shinkansen (bullet train) and visit the Tokugawa Museum.

Day 3

City: Nagoya – Takayama

Event: Transfer to Takayama

Firstly, we start with a visit to the Toyota Automobile Museum and the Toyota Plant. After that, we will transfer to Takayama via JR express train. Arriving in Takayama, we will then explore the Takayama old town (Kami-Sanno-Machi). Then, we take a visit to the Yatai Kaikan Hall where some of the floats used in the Takayama Festival are housed. Finally, we end the day with a visit to the Kusakabe Folk Museum.

Day 4

City: Takayama – Shirakawago – Kanazawa

Event: Transfer to Shirakawago

To begin with, we first take a visit to the Takayama Morning Market. Following that, we will transfer to Shirakawago (a World Heritage Site) by bus and stroll through Shirakawago Village. Lastly, we end the day with a bus ride to Kanazawa.

Day 5

City: Kanazawa – Kyoto

Event: Transfer to Kyoto

Take in a deep breath of the fresh Kanazawa air as we embark on a tour of the city. To begin with, we take a visit to  Kenrokuen Garden. Before it was opened to the public in 1871, this garden used to be the outer garden of the Kanazawa Castle. Next, we take a journey back in time to the age of the samurai with a visit to a former samurai residence – the Nomura Residence. Ending the tour of Kanazawa, we then venture to Higashi Chaya District and Omi-cho market.

Leaving Kanazawa, we then transfer to Kyoto via JR express train. For our first look at Kyoto, we will visit Gion Corner where you can enjoy seven different kinds of performing arts. Specifically, kyo-mai dance, flower arrangement, tea ceremony, koto music, gagaku court music, kyogen theater, and bunraku puppet theater.

Day 6

City: Departure from Kyoto

Event: Transfer to Kansai International Airport
